About Us
P.A.W.S.
Pet Rescue was founded in July of 2009 by Jacqueline and Shane Logan, and by
their first rescue kitten Captain Jack.
Captain Jack was found as the last surviving kitten in a feral colony severely malnourished and with an infection in his right eye. After being rushed to Bradshaw Veterinary
Hospital in Elk Grove, it was determined that Captain Jack would have to have his eye
removed.
Shane and Jacqueline decided to keep Captain Jack after realizing what
an incredibly special cat he was. He
possesses the spirit of P.A.W.S. Pet Rescue and is our designated mascot. After everything he has gone
through, struggling to survive on the streets, protecting himself from other
adult cats preying on his vulnerability, people in the neighborhood he was
found in refusing to provide food to the colony, and losing his eye, he lives
every day with nothing but a smile. He
welcomes each new, scared foster cat into our home and helps provide a loving
companion to them in their time of need.
He is the symbol of our mission, taking cats from an otherwise terminal situation
and giving them hope and a new life.
Even thought we are a smaller organization, we have rescued many cats
since Captain Jack, and will continue to provide food, shelter, and most
importantly loving care to many more cats, and hopefully dogs, in the
future. Recently we have provided
medical care to several special needs kittens and rescued a small Pekinese from
an abusive and neglectful situation.
PAWS is committed to providing a voice to those that cannot speak and a
home to those with nothing to call their own.
